What We Collect

When you create an account, we collect your email address and (optionally) your name and profile photo via Clerk, our identity provider. When you start a paid trial we hand off to Stripe to collect a payment method; Stripe stores the card details, not us. Inside the app we store your manuscripts, snapshots, and AI conversation history so they can sync across your devices. On our website we also collect limited analytics and advertising identifiers through cookies. See Analytics and Advertising below.

How We Use Your Data

Your email is used to send you transactional messages (sign-in links, receipts, important account notices) and the occasional product update you can opt out of. Your manuscript content is used only to power the features you invoke: chat, coaching, authoring, search. We do not sell or rent your data.

AI Processing

Polyz’s AI features are built on third-party AI providers, currently including Anthropic. When you use a feature that calls the AI (chat, the writing agent, inline rewriting, coaching, or grading), the relevant portions of your content are sent to that provider to generate a response. Under the API terms we operate on, your content is not used to train their models. AI features run only when you invoke them; we do not send your manuscripts to any AI provider in the background.

Data Storage

Account data lives in Clerk. Subscription and payment data live in Stripe. Manuscripts and AI usage telemetry live in a managed PostgreSQL database we operate. Images and other files you add to a project are stored in Cloudflare R2. We use industry-standard security practices and encrypted transport everywhere.

Analytics and Advertising

We use Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights to understand how visitors use our website. These collect aggregate usage data and do not use cookies.

We also use Google Analytics and Google Ads on our website to measure how our advertising performs. These set cookies in your browser, including a Google Analytics client identifier (“_ga”) and, if you arrive from one of our ads, a Google Ads click identifier (“_gcl_aw”). If you subscribe, we pass those two identifiers to Stripe alongside the purchase so we can attribute it to the campaign that brought you here. We do not send Google your manuscripts or any content you write.

If you are in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, these cookies are disabled until you accept them in the consent banner, and declining is a first-class option. Elsewhere they are enabled by default. Your choice is stored in your browser, and you can change it at any time by clearing your browser storage for this site or by contacting us. You can also opt out of Google Analytics entirely using Google’s browser add-on.

Your Rights

You can delete your account and its data from your profile settings in the app, or request deletion at any time by contacting us. You can request a copy of the data we hold about you, and you can unsubscribe from any marketing email using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email.
